Job summary

Walmart’s Sam’s Club data team in Sunnyvale seeks a data engineering expert to design and deploy scalable data solutions powering autonomous AI agents. Qualifications

• 4–6 years of experience in Big Data development with scalable, fault-tolerant architectures.
• 2–3 years hands-on with cloud platforms such as GCP or Azure, including BigQuery, Dataflow, Pub/Sub or equivalent.
• Strong foundation in data engineering best practices and building complex data pipelines for agent consumption.
• Experience designing semantic layers or knowledge graphs powering data-aware AI agents.
• Proven data modeling and architecture experience with data structures affecting retrieval quality.
• Familiarity with LangChain, LlamaIndex, CrewAI is beneficial but not required.
• Knowledge of data governance including quality, access control, and lineage for agent auditability and trust.
• Experience writing clean, testable code in Python, Java, or Scala; PySpark/Spark for distributed processing.
• Hands-on with Kafka, Docker/Kubernetes, and cloud platforms like Azure and GCP.
• Understanding of DevOps, CI/CD, observability, and scalable full-stack deployment.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, test, and deploy scalable, intelligent data solutions for Sam’s Club customers and AI agents.
• Partner with engineering, AI/ML, and product teams to ensure data services are discoverable, trustworthy, and consumable by next-gen AI agents.
• Collaborate across Sam’s Club teams to contribute to a data-first, agent-aware architecture and promote intelligent automation.
• Work with Product and Business teams to prioritize data products that enable autonomous decision-making and rich contextual recommendations.
• Build features enabling seamless integration between structured/unstructured data and downstream AI agents for smarter responses and faster insights.
• Deploy and monitor products on cloud platforms with agent observability, telemetry, and auditability.
• Develop data health monitoring, traceability, and context enrichment processes for data used by agents.
• Lead technical solutioning for full-lifecycle projects powering autonomous workflows and multi-agent systems.
