Job summary

Plug is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to build the governed data layer at the center of our AI-native platform in Santa Monica. You’ll own the dbt transformation models, ingestion pipelines (Fivetran, HubSpot), and the data foundation that informs Rain Radar pricing.

Collaborate with ML and data engineers, ensure data quality, and enable self-service reporting for internal users. This is an onsite, full-time role and you’ll report to Head of Engineering.

Qualifications

• 5+ years building production dbt projects end-to-end.
• Strong SQL and Python experience.
• Experience with ELT pipelines and API integrations.
• Familiarity with AI-native data patterns is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Own the dbt transformation layer across staging, intermediate, and mart models and MetricFlow definitions.
• Build and maintain the ingestion layer: Fivetran pipelines and HubSpot integration; onboard new sources.
• Work with the dbt MCP server and Semantic Layer as Plug's AI data interface.
• Maintain the ML feature store with data quality, schema stability, and documentation.
• Support internal data consumers by surfacing trusted datasets and enabling self-service reporting.
