Job summary

Plug is seeking a Senior Engineer to join the Engineering team in Santa Monica, onsite. You will own customer-facing or internal products, building AI-powered pricing intelligence, real-time API connections, auction apps, and data pipelines for EV market analysis.

You'll collaborate across disciplines, define architecture, and contribute to a culture emphasizing technical excellence, collaborative decision-making, and scalable systems.

Qualifications

• 5–8 years of hands-on experience delivering production applications.
• Proficiency in TypeScript across the full stack; Temporal a strong plus.
• Hands-on experience deploying and operating cloud-hosted applications; infra-as-code (Terraform), CI/CD, feature flags, observability tooling.
• Agent-first development workflows; orchestrating multiple agents and evaluating AI-generated output.
• Strong engineering quality bar: tests, code reviews, readable code for humans and AI.
• Considers cross-surface and downstream implications of technical decisions; scalable designs are preferred.
• Prior startup experience with end-to-end ownership: scoping, shipping, measuring impact.
• Authorized to work in the US for any employer.
• Prior EV/automotive experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with colleagues and contribute to product design sessions, architecture discussions, and code reviews.
• Design, implement, test, debug, and document software features meeting business, quality, and operational needs.
• Take ownership of features and products, supporting planning and development in agile environments.
• Write clear, efficient, and scalable code with a focus on maintainability and adaptability.
• Own and contribute to team productivity and process improvements.
• Develop and consume APIs to integrate Plug with 3rd party platforms.
• Elevate team technical standards through code reviews, pairing, and AI-assisted tooling.
• Grow with the team as it expands and as responsibilities increase.
