Job summary

Staples is seeking a Senior Data Engineer I to design, build, test, and operate modern data products for its Supply Chain Data team. You will translate complex needs into governed datasets and pipelines using Snowflake and dbt, while enabling AI-ready capabilities and reliable analytics across transportation, fulfillment, inventory, and delivery domains.

You will own solutions from design through production, partnering with product owners, data scientists, and engineers to ensure data quality,

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS, engineering, or related field or equivalent experience.
• 7+ years designing production data solutions and pipelines.
• Experience with supply chain data or related operational domains.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, test, and operate data pipelines for supply chain data ingestion, integration, transformation, and curation.
• Build modular, well-documented dbt models in Snowflake with incremental processing, testing and lineage.
• Create governed analytics-ready data products supporting transportation, fulfillment, inventory, delivery, and returns.
• Partner with product owners, analysts, data scientists, and stakeholders to clarify requirements and data contracts.
• Build foundations for AI workflows with governed datasets, metadata, and secure interfaces.
• Use Databricks features for scalable engineering and governed data products when appropriate.
• Implement automated data quality checks, tests, monitoring, and production support practices.
• Optimize Snowflake compute, storage, SQL, and dbt workloads for performance and cost.
• Apply Git-based version control, CI/CD, and infrastructure automation.
• Document architecture, data models, lineage, and procedures for transparency.
• Lead initiatives from design through production with strong review participation.
