Job summary

Amazon Inc. in Seattle is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to design, build, and maintain our next-generation data infrastructure that serves both human analysts and AI systems.

As a senior contributor, you will own production pipelines, ensure data quality and observability, and bridge traditional data warehousing with GenAI workloads, collaborating across data scientists, engineers, and business stakeholders to deliver scalable, future-proof solutions.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of data engineering experience.
• Experience with data modeling, warehousing and building ETL pipelines.
• Experience with SQL.
• Experience in at least one modern programming language such as Python, Java, Scala, or NodeJS.
• Experience mentoring team members on best practices.
• Experience with MPP databases such as Amazon Redshift.
• Experience building/operating data infrastructure for AI systems and autonomous agents, including metadata and documentation.
• Experience with GenAI data patterns end to end: chunking, embeddings, and vector stores for retrieval-augmented generation.
• Experience building datasets and feature pipelines for ML/GenAI training, fine-tuning, and inference (SageMaker, Bedrock, or equivalent).
• Experience implementing data quality, lineage, and observability for AI workloads.

Responsibilities

• - Design, build and maintain production data pipelines and warehouses.
• - Build data infrastructure serving AI systems and autonomous agents with machine-consumable interfaces and documentation.
• - Implement GenAI data patterns end to end including embeddings and vector stores.
• - Create datasets and feature pipelines for ML/GenAI training, tuning, and inference (SageMaker/Bedrock).
• - Ensure data quality, lineage, observability, validation, and monitoring at scale.
• - Collaborate with data scientists, engineers, analytics teams, and stakeholders.
• - Contribute to technical roadmap for data systems supporting AI transformation.
• - Build and operate scalable, observable data platforms on AWS (Redshift, S3, Glue, EMR).
