Senior Data Engineer
Location: Tampa Bay, Florida (Remote)
Role Overview
We are seeking a Senior Data Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate is a high mid-level to low-senior-level Data Engineer with hands-on experience building production-grade data pipelines, strong expertise in SQL and Python, and at least one year of real-world Microsoft Fabric experience. This person will work closely with Azure and Salesforce development teams in a Scrum-based environment, supporting data needs across multiple business applications while improving data accessibility, reliability, and reporting capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement and support Microsoft Fabric as the enterprise data platform, including migration and integration of existing data sources.
- Design, build, and monitor scalable ETL processes using Azure Data Factory pipelines, Fabric Data Factory pipelines, Dataflows Gen2, notebooks, and Spark-based processing.
- Develop and maintain the enterprise data warehouse architecture, ensuring it scales with business needs.
- Design and maintain data models, including dimensional models and star schemas, that support reliable, performant reporting and analytics.
- Manage data feeds to and from internal and external partners, including monitoring and reporting on feed health.
- Establish and enforce data quality standards, including validation rules, automated testing, and reconciliation checks.
- Optimize data workflows and database performance through query tuning and resource management.
- Automate and improve data infrastructure operations, applying DataOps practices to increase reliability.
- Define and champion best practices for data engineering, including coding standards, version control, and CI/CD for data pipelines.
- Collaborate with IT, security, and compliance teams to ensure data handling meets organizational and regulatory requirements.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of Data Engineering experience building and supporting production ETL/ELT pipelines.
- Minimum 1 year of hands-on Microsoft Fabric experience, including implementation and support of Fabric Data Factory Pipelines, Lakehouse and/or Warehouse, and Fabric Notebooks.
Strong experience with the Azure Data ecosystem, including Azure Data Factory, Azure SQL, Azure Data Lake, and Synapse Analytics.
- Advanced SQL development skills, including complex query writing, performance tuning, and optimization of large datasets.
- Strong Python development experience for data transformation and automation.
- Experience designing and maintaining enterprise data warehouse solutions, including dimensional modeling and star/snowflake schemas.
- Experience working with Snowflake or similar enterprise data warehouse platforms.
- Experience building and supporting data integrations from multiple source systems, including APIs, application databases, and Salesforce.
- Knowledge of data quality frameworks, validation processes, monitoring, reconciliation, and reliability practices.
- Experience with cloud-based data governance, security, and access controls.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with Product Owners, Developers, QA teams, and business stakeholders in an Agile/Scrum environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Microsoft certification such as Fabric Analytics Engineer Associate (DP-600) or equivalent.
- Experience with Power BI, including data modeling for integration with reports and dashboards.
- Experience with CI/CD tooling, such as Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions, applied to data pipelines.
- Experience working with healthcare, pharmacy benefit management, or claims data.
- Familiarity with data observability tooling.
