Emergent Software is seeking a Senior Data Engineer who is smart, passionate, detail-oriented, and enjoys Data Engineering work using the Microsoft suite of data solutions. A qualified candidate has knowledge of developing and maintaining data processing software and can perform both Database Engineer and, to a lesser extent, Database Administrator responsibilities. This 100% remote position is for self-starters with good communication skills, a strong work ethic, and the ability to manage work across numerous clients and priorities. The role requires a technical professional who thrives in dynamic environments, can wear multiple hats, and is passionate about designing, maintaining, and optimizing modern data systems.

Required Experience

• Understanding of data modeling design patterns like 3NF and star-schema.
• Experience with data warehouse design using medallion architecture or snowflake methodologies.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Fabric, Synapse, or Snowflake.
• Experience with Power BI, Azure Data Factory, performance tuning, stored procedures, database migrations, and Azure SQL solutions.

Nice to Have Experience

• Advanced SQL syntax and production environment configuration.
• Knowledge of Availability Groups, failover clustering, MySQL/PostgreSQL, and monitoring tools.
• Experience with VM sizing, backup/recovery plans, and Microsoft certifications such as DP-600, DP-700, PL-300, DP-300.
