Job summary

SpaceX seeks a Sr. Supplier Development Engineer, Data Center (Starlink) to develop and manage suppliers from concept to production for hyperscale data centers.

You will work across mechanical, electrical, power, thermal, networking, and software domains to deliver reliable, high-performance rack solutions. You will lead RAS principles, drive FAI/PPAP approvals, and partner with procurement to align supplier capabilities with SpaceX standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical, or electronics engineering or related field.
• Minimum 2+ years of experience in data center hardware design, integration, or manufacturing.
• Master’s degree in related field is preferred for seniority, with 7+ years in hyperscale data centers encouraged.

Responsibilities

• Analyze data center hardware from first principles with focus on hardware domain.
• Own complex rack-level solutions across mechanical, electrical, power, thermal, networking, and software integration.
• Lead RAS integration into data center strategy and architecture for high uptime.
• Design and integrate rack-level solutions with compute, storage, and networking hardware.
• Provide guidance on PDUs, cooling, airflow, and high-density compute integration.
• Develop test plans (burn-in, ESS, ORT) and drive reliability testing.
• Lead FMEA sessions and determine validation test plans.
• Define hardware qualification criteria and drive system-level optimization for high-volume installs.
• Approve first article (FAI) and PPAP reports; collaborate with suppliers on process improvements.
• Support procurement to source parts meeting supplier competencies and quality systems.
