Job summary

SpaceX is seeking a Sr. Supplier Development Engineer, Data Center (Starlink) to lead supplier development for data center hardware.

You will drive design decisions across mechanical, electrical, power, thermal, networking, and software integration domains, with a focus on reliability and high uptime. You will collaborate with internal engineering and manufacturing teams, manage FAI/PPAP, and guide supplier qualifications to enable scalable data center production.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical, electronics engineering or related field.
• Master’s degree preferred; 7+ years in hyperscale data center development is a plus.
• Experience with data center hardware design and supplier integration.

Responsibilities

• Analyze data center hardware and processes from first principles.
• Own rack-level solutions and system-level design decisions across domains.
• Lead integration of RAS principles for high uptime and reliability.
• Provide guidance on PDUs, cooling, airflow, and high-density compute.
• Develop test plans including burn-in, ESS, and ORT for reliability.
• Facilitate design FMEA sessions and drive reliable design choices.
• Define supplier requirements and drive PPAP/FAI reporting.
• Collaborate with design, materials, and infra engineers to root cause with suppliers.
• Assist procurement in sourcing parts with supplier capabilities.
