Job summary

GCON is seeking a Project Manager with a highlighted focus on data center, mission critical and manufacturing projects. This role, based in West Texas on project-based, long-term engagements, requires hands-on leadership to guide diverse teams, clients, and trade partners.

You will drive preconstruction activities, budgeting, scheduling, and risk management while accelerating business growth and profitability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in construction management or related field.
• 7+ years in commercial building and general contractor–led construction project management.
• 7+ years’ experience leading and managing the build process for data center projects.
• Experience with the design process of building systems for data center and mission critical projects.
• Thorough knowledge of construction cost, scheduling, estimating, purchasing and engineering principals and techniques.
• Proficient with MS Project and Primavera P6.
• Proficient with Procore and/or CMIC.

Responsibilities

• Effectively manage complex and large-scale datacenter, mission critical project(s) upwards to $100M+.
• Engage in preconstruction of project (e.g, estimating, buy out, logistics, scheduling, and pursuits).
• Oversee operational plan and work with Business Unit Lead (BUL) on new revenue pursuits and presentations.
• Advance client relationships to support Business Unit Lead (BUL) to grow business portfolio and profitability.
• Oversee and manage contract staff (1099's & consultants).
• Review and understand conceptual / schematic scope narratives, specifications, and drawings to provide appropriate and effective constructability input to influence the design.
• Ensure timely and effective project closeout, adhering to GCON’s standards for closeout processes.
• Maintain full engagement with trade partners, Architect/Engineer (A/E) team and client through actions of accountability and collaborations and establish project vision and sharing lessons learned.
• Demonstrate advanced financial capabilities; able to budget, forecast, monitor, course correct and advise on financial performance.
• Oversee cadence of Last Planner System (LPS) and continuous improvement activities between staff and trade partner workforce.
• Coach and mentor project team(s) on implementing a comprehensive Quality Control (QC) Plan.
• Oversee completion of Project Execution Plan and Risk Matrix.
• Identify exposures and negotiate cost overruns with client to mitigate margin fade and maximize company profitability.
• Evaluate leading and lagging safety indicators and implement corrective actions.
• Institute safety in all aspects of construction processes.
• Share safety lessons learned throughout business unit.
• Influence others on EH&S programs to improve culture and daily business practices.
• Facilitate and document GSTEPS with owner and key project stakeholders.
• Exemplify GCON values of stewardship in the community by engaging in industry and community organizations that foster collaboration and community support.
