Job summary

Computacenter in Livermore, CA is seeking a Lead Consultant/Project Engineer to provide end-to-end technical leadership for customer deployments from discovery to closure. You will translate requirements into executable designs and coordinate across engineering, delivery, and field teams to ensure solutions meet specifications and standards.

The role requires hands-on data center infrastructure expertise, rack-build experience, and ability to travel for deployments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, IT, CS, or related field.
• 5+ years designing, configuring, or supporting enterprise tech.
• Experience in enterprise, colocation, or hyperscale data centers.
• Rack-build and physical data center architecture experience.
• Ability to translate customer requirements into technical designs.

Responsibilities

• Lead discovery to gather, validate, and document requirements.
• Translate requirements into detailed technical designs as primary contact.
• Develop and maintain solution designs and docs (rack designs, BOMs, cabling matrices).
• Apply knowledge of physical data center architecture, racks, cabling.
• Provide technical direction to teams building, configuring, testing solutions.
• Review rack builds, configurations, test results against designs.
• Participate in FABs, POCs, validation reviews and checkpoints.
• Identify design gaps and drive resolution with teams.
• Lead technical closure and obtain sign-off against requirements.
• Communicate status, risks, dependencies to customers and leadership.
• Partner with PMs, Field Engineering, vendors, and customer teams.
• Lead contributors through influence, not direct authority.
