Job summary

DigitalOcean is seeking a Power Systems Engineer to lead design, deployment, and monitoring of next‑generation power infrastructure in high-density data centers. You will serve as the primary SME for power topics, evangelize efficient power strategies, and collaborate across Infra teams to ensure facility readiness.

The ideal candidate has a technical degree in electrical engineering or related field and hands-on experience with MV switchgear, transformers, UPS, generators, and rack-level power

Qualifications

  • BS or equivalent practical engineering experience.
  • Hands-on experience with utility service entrances, medium-voltage switchgear, transformers, UPS, generators.
  • Understanding of N, N+1, 2N, and distributed redundant designs.
  • Knowledge of NEC, NFPA 70E, IEEE, UL and arc flash safety.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as SME for power-related topics in DigitalOcean data centers.
  • Lead design, deployment, and monitoring of power infrastructure at scale.
  • Develop standards for datacenter facilities and power distribution.
  • Coordinate with operations on monitoring thresholds and alerting.
  • Troubleshoot failures and drive long-term prevention.
  • Collaborate with Infra teams to ensure facility readiness.
