Job summary

Anthropic is seeking a Senior Data Center Mechanical Engineer to lead design direction for cooling, plumbing, and fire protection across its U.S. data center portfolio. You will guide concept through detailed design and construction documentation, coordinating with external engineers and Anthropic teams to ensure reliability, efficiency, and scalable performance.

The role emphasizes prefabrication and modular construction to accelerate deployment, with strong familiarity with U.S. codes.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience designing building mechanical systems for data centers or mission-critical facilities.
• Deep familiarity with U.S. mechanical, plumbing, and fire codes and standards (IMC, IPC, IECC, IBC, NFPA 13, ASME B31, ASHRAE).
• Knowledge of chilled-water systems, air-cooled cooling plants, and liquid cooling (direct-to-chip).

Responsibilities

• Drive mechanical design concepts for data center cooling plants and plumbing systems.
• Review and direct design drawings and specs from external firms.
• Evaluate submittals and respond to RFIs with clear technical direction.
• Coordinate with vendors on cooling system procurement and performance.
• Travel and site-visit for progress reviews and commissioning support.
