Job summary

Amazon Data Services, Inc. is seeking a Colo Regional Engineer to lead data center design, engineering, and operations across global facilities.

You will assess sites, analyze risks, and influence specifications to ensure reliable, scalable infrastructure for AWS services. You will collaborate with internal teams and external vendors, travel up to 50% internationally and domestically, and drive improvements in data center availability and safety across regions.

Qualifications

• Experience with data center mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and structural design concepts.
• Ability to travel up to 50% domestically and internationally.
• Strong engineering judgement and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Conduct site assessments against AWS standards for collocation data centers.
• Perform risk analysis and availability calculations for data center infrastructure.
• Influence AWS design and specification requirements to meet business needs.
• Lead and document root‑cause failure analysis for infrastructure and equipment.
• Coordinate with vendors and regulatory authorities to ensure compliance with codes.
• Collaborate with engineering, operations, and commissioning teams to test installations.
• Travel to Data Center sites as required - International & Domestic (up to 50%).
• Review vendor infrastructure designs for fit-for-use/fit-for-service for AWS cloud compute and networking services.
