Apple Inc. in Sunnyvale, CA is seeking a Senior Hardware Systems Engineer to own the system as a whole—from requirements to interfaces and documentation.

You will coordinate with architecture, hardware, firmware, software, and operations to ensure each sub-system aligns with the platform goals. You will drive system-level trade studies, manage V&V plans, and supervise the handoff from NPI to sustaining operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Computer/Systems/Mechatronics or related field.
• 12+ years of systems engineering on complex, multi-domain hardware programs that have shipped.
• Track record of owning system-level documentation (requirements specs, interfaces, verification/validation, traceability, trade studies).
• Strong written and verbal communication across hardware, software, and mechanical teams.

Responsabilités

• Define and maintain the full set of system-level hardware requirements for Apple's custom infrastructure platforms.
• Write and own the system engineering document set, including system requirements specifications, interface control documents, V&V plans, and traceability.
• Own closure of trade studies for major platform decisions across rack architecture, power delivery, energy storage, networking, and data storage.
• Deliver requirements to sub-system owners, internal teams, and external suppliers with precision.
• Drive alignment across hardware, mechanical, firmware, software, and operations teams.
• Review and approve sub-system V&V plans and integrate results into a cross-functional record.
• Flag when a design choice limits current or future platforms and raise it early.
• Collaborate with architecture at program start to ensure complete high-level requirements.
• Own handoff from NPI to sustaining operations with documented needs.
• Identify gaps in software and mechanical coverage and address them.
• Help build systems engineering practices, standards, and review processes.
