Job summary

You will define complete hardware requirements, write and manage interface control documents, and coordinate across electrical, power, thermal, mechanical, and software domains to ensure a cohesive platform. You will drive trade studies, manage V&V plans, and align teams to closures that meet top-level goals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant engineering field.
• 12+ years of systems engineering on complex, multi-domain hardware programs that have shipped.
• Proven ownership of system-level technical documentation through formal reviews.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills enabling cross-team alignment.

Responsibilities

• Define and maintain the full set of system-level hardware requirements for Apple's custom infrastructure platforms.
• Write and own the system engineering document set and specify interfaces across electrical, power, thermal, mechanical, optical, and protocol domains.
• Own the closure of trade studies for major platform decisions across rack architecture, power delivery, energy storage, networking, and data storage.
• Deliver requirements to sub-system owners, internal teams, and external suppliers with precision.
• Drive alignment across hardware, firmware, software, and operations when requirements conflict or risks surface.
• Review and approve sub-system V&V plans and integrate results into a cross-functional record.
• Flag design choices that limit current or future platforms and raise them early.
• Work with architecture teams at program start to ensure complete, specific high-level requirements.
• Own the handoff package from NPI development to sustaining operations.
• Identify gaps in software and mechanical coverage and articulate actionable improvements.
• Help build the systems engineering practices, standards, and review processes needed as the organization grows.
