Job summary

CoreSite in Chicago, IL, seeks a skilled Facilities and Data Center Technician IV (Swing Shift) to ensure operational integrity of electrical, mechanical, fire life safety, and communications systems. The role focuses on maintaining uptime, mentoring junior staff, and working with the Data Center Manager to implement preventive maintenance and efficiency improvements.

The position requires expert knowledge of data center facilities, NEC/NFPA compliance, and hands-on experience with cooling,

Qualifications

• Expert understanding of electrical and mechanical systems in data center environments.
• Expert knowledge of NEC, NFPA 70E, NFPA 72, NFPA 25 and related fire life safety codes.
• Fiber optics cabling best practices and industry standards.
• Industrial safety practices including lockout/tag out and arc flash protection.
• Experience with data trending, monitoring systems, and IT-bridged operations.

Responsibilities

• Operate, monitor, and maintain electrical, mechanical, and fire life safety systems.
• Lead junior staff and mentor colleagues.
• Maintain preventive maintenance schedules and track performance against SLAs.
• Troubleshoot, repair, and optimize data center infrastructure to maximize uptime.
