Job summary

Flexential seeks a Data Center Engineering Manager to own operation and maintenance of electrical, mechanical, and HVAC systems across data centers in the market, driving 99.999% uptime and serving as a technical resource for the Infrastructure, Design and Construction teams.

You will lead a team, supervise contractors, perform root cause analyses, and develop programs to reduce costs while increasing reliability.

Qualifications

• 10 years of direct, relevant technical experience with data center MEP operation, construction and maintenance.
• 5+ years in a management role with 5+ direct reports.
• 5+ years of root cause analysis and troubleshooting.
• 5+ years in a critical infrastructure environment.
• Applicable military experience.
• Applicable trade experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide trusted technical and management guidance to the operations team.
• Oversee the commissioning of new data centers and infrastructure augmentations.
• Develop and administer new program level planning and project management, and improve existing programs for site operations with Director input.
• Support Operations with technical and administrative tasks for nationwide operation, maintenance and training.
• Directly supervise and critique subcontractor work to ensure standards and schedules.
• Identify and correct maintenance discrepancies and coordinate with Operations to resolve site issues with vendors.
• Train and support new hires in planning, scheduling and maintenance tasks.
• Prioritize multiple projects and communicate clearly, using standard word processing tools.
• Operate independently with limited direct management.
• Escalation point for facilities issues; escalate to Data Center Facility Manager as needed.
• Perform root cause analyses of equipment failures.
• Ensure safety procedures are followed by vendors and Flexential staff.
• Develop site solutions for infrastructure and business needs.
• Communicate complex technical information to non-technical audiences.
• Set performance benchmarks, analyze data and report on critical facility operations and maintenance.
• Drive innovation to reduce costs and mitigate risk in the facility.
• Configure monitoring/alerting of facility equipment.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.
