Job summary

Flexential Corp. is seeking an experienced Data Center Facilities Lead in Richardson, TX to own operation and maintenance of electrical, mechanical and HVAC systems across market data centers, targeting 99.999% uptime.

You will guide the operations team, oversee new data center commissioning, and advance programs for site reliability and efficiency. The role requires a strong background in critical infrastructure, with 10+ years in data center MEP roles and 5+ years in management.

Qualifications

• 10 years of direct, relevant technical experience with Data Center MEP equipment operation, construction and maintenance.
• 5+ years in a management position with 5+ direct reports.
• 5+ years with root cause analysis and troubleshooting.
• 5+ years in a critical infrastructure environment.
• Applicable military experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide trusted technical and management guidance to the operations team.
• Oversee the commissioning of new data centers and infrastructure augmentations.
• Develop and administer new program planning and project management, and improve existing programs to support site operations.
• Support the Operations Group with technical and administrative tasks related to the operation, maintenance, and training of facilities nationwide.
• Supervise and critique subcontractors to ensure standards, schedules and specifications.
• Identify and correct maintenance discrepancies and coordinate with Operations management to resolve site issues.
• Train new hires in planning, scheduling and maintenance activities.
• Prioritize multiple projects and communicate effectively; operate independently.
• Escalation point for all facilities-related issues within the data center.
• Perform root cause analysis of equipment failures.
• Ensure safety procedures are followed by vendors and Flexential staff.
• Develop site solutions for infrastructure and business needs.
• Communicate complex technical information to non-technical audiences.
• Establish performance benchmarks, analyze and report on critical facility operations and maintenance.
• Drive innovation to reduce costs and mitigate risk.
• Configure monitoring/alerting of facility equipment.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Job description

Responsibilities include owning the overall operation and maintenance of all electrical, mechanical, and HVAC equipment for all data center(s) within a market, leading to mission-critical uptime of 99.999% or higher. This position will also serve as a technical resource for the Critical Infrastructure, Design and Construction teams. Identify strategic business opportunities and threats, develop and implement plans and processes to achieve long term business objectives.

Key Responsibilities and Essential Job Functions

• Provide trusted technical and management guidance to the operations team.
• Oversee the commissioning of new data centers and infrastructure augmentations.
• Will develop, implement and administer new program level planning and project management, as well as work to improve existing Programs to support site operations on the approval from the Director of Data Center Engineering.
• Will support the Operations Group with both technical and administrative tasks related to the overall proper operation, maintenance, and training of the facilities nationwide.
• Will directly supervise and critique work performance by subcontractors to ensure adherence to standards, schedules and specifications.
• Will find and correct maintenance discrepancies and work with Operations management to resolve site issues based on agreed upon priorities including management support of vendors and sub-contractors.
• Will support and train new hire personnel in the planning, scheduling and completion of preventative, corrective and emergency maintenance.
• Will require the ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects, have strong oral and written communication skills, and the ability to navigate common word processing programs.
• Operate independently with limited direct management.
• Act as an escalation point for all facilities-related issues within the data center, escalating to the Data Center Facility Manager as needed.
• Perform root cause analysis of equipment failures.
• Ensure all safety procedures are adhered to by vendor and Flexential staff.
• Develop site solutions in support of various key infrastructure and business needs.
• Communicate complex technical information to a non-technical audience.
• Establish performance benchmarks, conduct analyses and prepare reports on all aspects of the critical facility operations and maintenance.
• Continually drive innovation with a focus on reducing operational costs and mitigating risk in the facility.
• Configure monitoring/alerting of facility equipment.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Required Qualifications

• Must have 10 years of direct, relevant technical experience with Data Center MEP equipment operation, construction and maintenance.
• 5+ years of experience in a management position with 5 or more direct reports.
• 5+ years of experience with root cause analysis and troubleshooting/problem solving.
• 5+ years of experience within a critical infrastructure environment.
• Applicable military experience.
• Applicable trade experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Advanced electrical or mechanical certifications (Bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant engineering discipline).
• 8+ years of experience working in data centers with an emphasis on building and equipment operation.
• 8+ years of experience in a management position with 5 or more direct reports.

Physical Requirements

• Travel 10% of the time.

Base Pay Range

Annualized salary range offered for this position is estimated to be $130,000 - $150,000. However, the actual pay range depends on each candidate's experience, location, and qualifications.
