Job summary

Google is seeking a Senior Staff Data Center Engineer and Technical Lead to guide the physical, electrical, and thermal architecture of its hyperscale data halls. You will define standards, design layouts for high-density AI/ML clusters, and drive modular, factory-based solutions across a global data center fleet.

You will work with cross-functional teams to accelerate capacity delivery while ensuring compliance with codes and standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Mechanical/Systems Engineering or related field.
• 12 years in mission critical facility design and construction environments.
• 12 years designing server hall layouts, containment systems, or related infrastructure.
• 12 years working with HVAC and liquid cooling (direct-to-chip, immersion).
• Experience leading technical teams with emphasis on leadership.

Responsibilities

• Define multi-year engineering strategy and architectural standards for global data center fleet.
• Architect physical infrastructure and layouts for high-density AI/ML clusters.
• Create and maintain Basis of Design documents and standardized data hall blocks.
• Drive factory-based assembly methods and modular design for faster delivery.
• Bridge cross-functional teams with vendors to align capabilities with scaling goals.
