DigitalOcean seeks a Senior Data Center Engineer to build and scale reliable data center infrastructure for its cloud and AI platform. Based in Atlanta, you will deploy hands-on hardware, mentor teams, and improve operations across GPU, server, network and storage systems.

You will lead complex deployments, serve as a technical escalation point, and drive incident reviews using data. The role includes on-call shifts, travel up to 10% domestically, and collaboration across teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or 4 years of equivalent work experience, plus 3 years troubleshooting IT systems
• Experience deploying and troubleshooting GPU hardware for AI workloads
• Strong understanding of infrastructure hardware deployment and troubleshooting across networking, hardware, and Linux OS
• Proficiency with Linux operating systems and bash scripting
• Willingness to participate in on-call rotation, work 12-hour shifts including non-standard hours, and travel up to 10% domestically

Based in Atlanta and reporting to the Data Center Manager, this role combines hands-on hardware deployment with team leadership, mentoring, and operational process improvement across GPU, server, network, and storage infrastructure.

What You'll Do

• Own complex deployments from start to finish, including GPU and AI infrastructure, servers, network, and storage hardware
• Serve as an escalation point for troubleshooting complex and recurring hardware, network, GPU, and Linux OS issues
• Lead reviews of data center events and incidents using data to identify root causes and drive timely resolution
• Write, review, and approve operational documentation, runbooks, and procedures to standardize site operations
• Mentor Data Center Technicians and Engineers, lead site-wide projects, and partner across teams to share knowledge
• Track operational metrics, manage RMA and inventory processes, and provide input on hardware and staffing needs

What You Need

• Bachelor's degree or 4 years of equivalent work experience, plus 3 years of experience troubleshooting IT systems
• Experience deploying and troubleshooting GPU hardware at scale for AI workloads
• Strong understanding of infrastructure hardware deployment and troubleshooting across networking, hardware, and Linux OS
• Proficiency with Linux operating systems and bash scripting
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to perform deep technical dives to resolve issues quickly
• Experience mentoring or training junior engineers and technicians

$106,000–$130,000 base salary, plus annual bonus plan eligibility and potential new hire equity grant; benefits include flexible time off, conference and training reimbursement, mental health support, and Employee Stock Purchase Program eligibility in participating countries
