Company Overview

P&E Constructors is an employee-owned (ESOP) mechanical and electrical construction firm executing large capital projects with deep roots in the industrial construction sector. Since 1946, we’ve delivered fabrication and installation services with a commitment to safety, quality, reliability, and client-focused solutions.

This role supports projects across the United States and requires a high level of travel based on business and project needs. Candidates may be based anywhere within the U.S.; however, the selected individual should be prepared for assignments at various project locations nationwide. Travel for this position may reach up to approximately 90%.

Project assignments generally last 10 to 17 months, depending on project duration and operational requirements. While assigned to a project away from home, eligible employees are provided per diem to assist with temporary living and travel-related expenses, in addition to a competitive base salary.

To support project deployment, mobilization assistance may be provided, which can include mileage reimbursement or other approved travel support. Employees may also receive extended weekend rotations approximately once per month, allowing additional time for travel home.

Depending on project requirements, eligible employees could be provided with either a company-issued vehicle and fuel card or a vehicle allowance to support travel needs.

Position Overview

The Electrical Superintendent is responsible for leading all field operations for structured cabling, fiber optic, pathway, and low-voltage systems on a large-scale, mission-critical data center project. This role provides hands-on leadership for field personnel and subcontractors, ensuring work is completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with project specifications, quality standards, and industry best practices. This position requires a strong background in mission-critical construction, exceptional leadership skills, and a commitment to safety, quality, and operational excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Lead all field operations for structured cabling, fiber optic, pathway, and low-voltage communication systems on a large-scale mission-critical data center project
  • Direct and supervise field personnel and subcontractors to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality execution of communication infrastructure work
  • Plan, coordinate, and manage daily construction activities to maintain project schedule, productivity, and workforce utilization
  • Oversee installation of cable tray, ladder rack, conduit, telecommunications rooms, equipment racks, fiber optic backbone, horizontal cabling, copper systems, and communication device terminations
  • Coordinate work sequencing with electrical, mechanical, civil, and general contractor teams to minimize conflicts and maintain project milestones
  • Conduct daily planning meetings, toolbox talks, and field coordination meetings with crews and subcontractors
  • Promote and enforce a strong safety culture by ensuring compliance with OSHA requirements, site-specific safety plans, and company policies
  • Monitor work quality to ensure installations comply with project specifications, owner requirements, TIA-942, ANSI/TIA-568, BICSI standards, and applicable codes
  • Review construction drawings, specifications, shop drawings, rack elevations, and installation details to support field execution and identify potential issues
  • Coordinate inspections, testing activities, and quality control processes throughout construction
  • Track field progress and production, identify schedule risks, and implement recovery plans when necessary
  • Review manpower requirements and coordinate labor resources to support project milestones and productivity goals
  • Manage material deliveries, storage, inventory, and installation sequencing to maintain uninterrupted field operations
  • Identify and resolve field issues, constructability concerns, and conflicts in collaboration with project management, engineering, quality, and client representatives
  • Maintain accurate daily reports documenting workforce, production, equipment, deliveries, safety observations, and project progress
  • Participate in subcontractor coordination, performance management, and schedule planning meetings
  • Assist with project scheduling by providing field input on look-ahead plans, milestones, manpower forecasting, and progress updates
  • Support the RFI, submittal, and change management processes by identifying field impacts and coordinating with the project team
  • Coordinate punch list completion, commissioning support, testing activities, and final turnover of communication systems
  • Ensure completion of as-built documentation, labeling verification, test records, and turnover documentation prior to system handover
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with owners, client representatives, inspectors, engineers, subcontractors, and internal project teams
  • Mentor foremen and field personnel while promoting continuous improvement, accountability, and professional development
  • Drive project execution with a focus on safety, quality, schedule, productivity, and client satisfaction throughout all phases of construction

Requirements

  • Minimum of 15 years of progressive experience in electrical, low-voltage, or communication infrastructure construction
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience serving as a Superintendent on large-scale industrial, mission-critical, data center, or commercial construction projects
  • Proven ability to lead and supervise field crews of up to 75 personnel on complex communication infrastructure projects
  • Demonstrated experience managing structured cabling, fiber optic backbone, cable tray, ladder rack, rack and cabinet installation, terminations, and related communication systems on greenfield data center or hyperscale projects
  • Strong commitment to safety with a proven record of enforcing OSHA and project safety requirements; OSHA 30 certification preferred
