Job summary

ABB is seeking a Senior Data Center Design Engineer to lead project design efforts for data center solutions. You will coordinate with customers, contractors and suppliers to shape electrical equipment design including Ehouse, switchgear and transformers, while ensuring compliance with IEC, NEC, IEEE, and UL standards.

The role supports remote work with travel up to 30% and reports to the Engineering Team Lead - Data Center.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• Data Center Infrastructure knowledge.
• Ehouse and Modular systems experience.
• 5+ years relevant engineering experience in electrical power systems.
• Strong knowledge of MV/LV switchgear, protections, controls, automation.
• Ability to design and calculate electrical systems for Power Distribution Centers.
• Proficiency in electrical drawings and standards (IEEE/ANSI, NEC, NEMA).
• Willingness to travel up to 30%.

Responsibilities

• Lead project design and coordinate design deliverables as the technical lead.
• Collaborate with customers, general contractors and suppliers on electrical equipment design.
• Ensure compliance with electrical standards (IEC, NEC, IEEE, UL).
• Manage expectations and engineering change order control.
• Coordinate FAT/IFAT with manufacturing, procurement and testing teams.
• Review designs, document changes, and mitigate technical risks.
• Mentor junior engineers and document best practices.
• Stay current with data center trends and contribute to process improvements.
