Job summary

SpaceXAI is seeking a Lead Engineer for Data Center electrical to design, build, operate, and maintain high-capacity power systems. You will lead a small on-site team in Memphis, ensuring scalable electrical architecture for AI compute halls and collaborating across disciplines to meet demanding schedules.

The role requires 10+ years in power design, MV distribution at 10–35 kV, and strong leadership. Travel to other sites is expected; on-site work in Memphis is required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related
  • 10+ years in electrical power design, high-power or mission-critical
  • Experience owning medium-voltage distribution at 10–35 kV

Responsibilities

  • Own electrical architecture from MV bus to GPU rack, scalable to AI compute load.
  • Defend redundancy basis; evaluate split-feed and cross-feed under faults.
  • Set campus electrical design standards including tagging, drawings, approvals, insulation, grounding, arc-flash.
  • Interface with compute team on rack density, power-capping, utilization.
  • Coordinate with mechanical on CDU, sidecar, and pump loads affecting hall demand.
  • Lead design reviews with EPCs, OEMs, and owner’s engineers; approve vendor drawings and FATs.
  • Direct Design, Commissioning, R&D, BIM/Designer, and P&C engineers as needed.
  • Collaborate with Transmission & Distribution and Battery Storage leads to maintain a single model.
  • Ensure NFPA 70, 70B, 70E, NESC, IEEE compliance and safety excellence.
