Job summary

SpaceXAI is seeking a Lead Engineer for Data Center electrical to design, build, operate, and maintain high‑capacity power systems at our Memphis campus. You will lead a small on‑site team, scale electrical infrastructure to meet AI compute demand, and travel to other sites as needed.

The role requires 10+ years in high‑power design, MV distribution, and leadership of engineering teams. On‑site work in Memphis with up to 25% travel, strict safety standards, and collaboration across EPCs, OEMs,

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, physics, or similar engineering discipline.
10+ years of electrical power design experience for high‑power, high‑voltage, or mission‑critical systems.
Experience owning medium‑voltage distribution architecture from 10 kV to 35 kV.

Responsibilities

Own the electrical architecture from MV bus to GPU rack, including topology, redundancy, and standards.
Defend redundancy basis; validate split-feed and cross-feed schemes against contingencies.
Establish campus electrical design standards: tagging, conventions, approved vendor list, insulation coordination, grounding, arc‑flash boundaries.
Coordinate with compute on rack density, load behavior, power‑capping, and utilization.
Coordinate with mechanical and cooling on CDU, sidecar, and pump electrical loads and their impact on hall demand.
Lead design reviews with EPCs, OEMs, and owner's engineers; approve drawings and FAT procedures.
Direct Design, Commissioning, R&D, BIM/Designer, and Protection & Controls engineers.
Collaborate with Transmission & Distribution and Battery Storage leads to keep design model consistent.
Ensure compliance with NFPA 70, 70E, NESC, and IEEE standards; prioritize safety and engineering excellence.
