Job summary

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking an Electrical Engineer to join a global engineering team responsible for expanding and modernizing our data center footprint. You will design resilient, cost‑effective electrical distribution systems, justify decisions to senior management, and support multiple projects from concept through turnover.

Role requires travel to headquarters in Seattle and other sites (up to 20%), with a focus on Virginia data centers; you will define critical equipment specs,

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field required or equivalent experience.
• 6+ years of data center design, construction, operations, or facility maintenance experience.
• 6+ years in mission critical facilities including data centers, power generation, or oil & gas facilities.
• Ability to review and interpret construction drawings, specifications and submittals.
• Strong knowledge of electrical distribution systems and building codes.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop data center electrical systems and ensure conformance with quality and budget constraints.
• Create and approve equipment submittals and guide design through permit and construction documentation.
• Coordinate with commissioning teams to test installation performance and ensure uptime.
• Work with local authorities to ensure compliance with federal, state, and municipal codes.
• Travel to sites for site review and collaboration with field engineers, up to 20% of time.
