Job summary

OpenAI is seeking experienced Data Center Mechanical and Electrical/Power Design Engineers to design, operate, and maintain large-scale data center campuses. You will lead MEP systems, drive operational activities, and ensure reliability across project phases from design through deployment.

The role requires extensive background with critical infrastructure, vendor coordination, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to deliver safe, high-performance data center environments.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in data center design, operation, and maintenance.
• Proven track record leading operational and technical activities in large-scale data centers.
• Extensive expertise in MEP design, operation, and maintenance.
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering; PE certificate preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee building and MEP design, operation, and maintenance across project phases.
• Lead operational activities for large-scale data center campuses from design to daily operation.
• Collaborate with external vendors to select, procure, and manage critical equipment.
• Provide technical direction and ensure compliance with safety and industry standards.
• Develop data center workflows from design requirements through commissioning.
