Job summary

Redtree Engineering in New York City seeks a Data Center Design Manager to lead design from concept through construction and commissioning, coordinating architects, MEP engineers, and vendors to deliver safe, buildable, and reliable facilities. This on-site role requires managing schedules, budgets, and design reviews, while ensuring compliance with client requirements, AHJs, and sustainability goals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering or Architecture.
• 8+ years in design of mission-critical facilities, with at least 3 years in a design management or lead role.
• Experience managing multiple consultants and multidisciplinary design teams.
• Familiar with BIM workflows (Revit, Navisworks, BIM 360/ACC).
• Strong communication, negotiation, and stakeholder-management skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead full design process (Concept, Schematic, Design Development, Construction Documents, and IFC).
• Coordinate external design consultants and internal engineering teams across disciplines.
• Ensure designs meet BoD, OPR, and reliability targets.
• Run design reviews and value engineering workshops.
• Oversee BIM coordination and maintain model quality and LOD standards.
• Build and manage design schedules, deliverables, and milestones.
• Track design budgets, consultant fees, and change orders.
