Job summary

Prosum is seeking a Senior Data Engineer / Data Architect to evaluate and modernize the enterprise data lake, governance, and reporting platform in Pasadena, CA. The role combines hands-on data engineering with architecture leadership and cross-functional collaboration to deliver scalable data pipelines, quality controls, and secure data sharing across Azure data services.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
7+ years of experience in data engineering, data architecture, BI platform engineering, or enterprise data delivery.
Strong proficiency with Azure Synapse, Microsoft Fabric, ADLS Gen2 / OneLake, Power BI, Power Automate, Purview, and Azure data integration.
Optional working knowledge of Snowflake architecture and administration concepts is preferred.
Strong knowledge of data lake architecture, lakehouse patterns, data warehousing, and governance best practices.
Experience leading architecture assessments, roadmaps, and presenting to stakeholders.
Advanced SQL skills and ETL/ELT development with pipeline orchestration.
Experience implementing governance controls: RBAC, lineage, cataloging, data quality, audit logs.

Responsibilities

Assessing the current data lake architecture, including zones, ingestion, transformation, security, lineage, and ops.
Leading architecture roadmap proposals for Azure Synapse, Fabric, ADLS Gen2/OneLake, Power BI, CI/CD, and scalability.
Advisory support for Snowflake-related architecture, including storage/compute separation and cost optimization.
Designing, developing, and maintaining reliable data pipelines into governed data lake zones and datasets.
Establishing data governance: cataloging, metadata standards, lineage, sensitivity labeling, data quality thresholds.
Partnering with owners, stewards, and security to translate needs into secure data solutions.
Ensuring data quality, privacy, compliance, least-privilege, and audit readiness across the platform.
Defining operational standards for monitoring, incident triage, and release validation.
Providing technical leadership, reviews, and mentoring for data engineers and BI teams.
Creating architecture docs, standards, and runbooks for major changes.
