Job summary

SMX in the United States is seeking a Senior Data Architect to design and implement an enterprise data warehouse that supports the Federal Transit Administration's mission. You will replace legacy systems, modernize cloud data solutions, and provide an analytics backbone for data-driven decisions.

The role emphasizes leadership in data architecture, ETL/ELT development, and governance, with a focus on AWS and Databricks modernization for scalable data platforms.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field.
• 10+ years of professional experience in BI, Data Warehousing, Data Modeling, and Database Design.
• Proven cloud experience in AWS.
• Expertise in dimensional modeling for reporting and analytics.
• Hands-on with SQL Server and MariaDB.
• Experience building ETL/ELT with SSIS, Python, or Databricks.
• Ability to translate business needs into technical requirements and communicate with stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead Data Architecture: design, develop, and maintain scalable data models, data marts, and database solutions.
• Data Modeling & Design: create logical and physical models to maximize analytics.
• ETL & Data Integration: oversee integration of disparate data sets and ETL/ELT pipelines.
• Technical Leadership & Governance: partner with stakeholders and guide development teams; support governance activities.
• Cloud Modernization: assess AWS infrastructure and migrate to modern platforms like Databricks and Data Lakes.
