Job summary

Cooley AI, the innovation arm of a leading technology law firm, seeks a Senior Data Application Engineer in New York. You will build interactive data apps on the Databricks platform, collaborating with product owners and architects to deliver intuitive, secure solutions.

You will work with AI-assisted tools, GitHub workflows, and modern front-end tech to deliver scalable data products for legal teams and business users.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of directly applicable data engineering or data application experience.
• Experience building or maintaining web applications or data-driven platforms.
• Experience with front-end technologies: HTML, CSS, JavaScript.
• Familiarity with React, Vue, Angular or similar frameworks.
• Basic SQL skills and understanding of relational databases.

Responsibilities

• Build and enhance interactive data applications using Databricks Appkit and AI-assisted coding tools.
• Implement UI components and data visualizations that integrate with Databricks data sources.
• Support internal tools to streamline workflows and improve data accessibility.
• Participate in code reviews, testing, and documentation to ensure reliability and security.
• Troubleshoot issues, perform root-cause analysis and apply fixes with senior engineers.
• Maintain content-driven applications, ensuring accuracy and compliance with firm policies.
