Job summary

AbbVie in Chicago, IL seeks a Senior Data and Analytics Engineer to translate complex data requirements into scalable analytics and data-engineering solutions for the Operations (Supply Chain) organization. You will partner with DATA, BTS, and business stakeholders to design, build, and deliver modern data products, pipelines, and governance in line with enterprise standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS/IS/Data Eng or related field with significant hands-on experience.
• Proven experience designing and delivering enterprise data warehouse/lakehouse and analytics solutions.
• Strong SQL and Python with PySpark/Scala in distributed frameworks.
• Experience with S3, Iceberg/Open table formats, AWS Glue, EMR, Redshift/Spectrum.
• Knowledge of medallion architecture, data modeling, partitioning, and performance tuning.
• Experience building production-grade batch and streaming pipelines with orchestration and observability.
• Experience with Airflow or similar orchestration tools and CI/CD practices.
• Ability to deliver AI-ready data products for BI, self-service analytics, data science, and ML.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, deploy, and support data pipelines and data products across structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data.
• Implement lakehouse/modern data warehouse architectures and optimize performance and costs.
• Translate business domains into governed data products with contracts, ownership, and lineage.
• Engineer reliable data ingestion from applications, DBs, files, APIs, and event streams; build orchestrations with Airflow or Step Functions.
• Embed data quality, security, and governance aligned with AbbVie standards.
• Lead technical deliverables through lifecycle with risk management and stakeholder communication.
• Collaborate with DATA, BTS, and Operations stakeholders to align with roadmap and governance.
