Job summary

AbbVie is seeking an Engineer, Technology I within BTS IR to design and develop data pipelines and curated data assets for R&D analytics and AI-enabled use cases. You will work with data scientists, platform teams, and data owners to ensure reliable, governed data supply for knowledge graphs and ML workflows.

The role is hybrid, based in Lake County, IL (Tue, Wed, Thu), with responsibilities spanning data integration, modeling, quality checks, and documentation to support ARCH knowledge graph

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in IT, data engineering, CS, informatics, or related field with 4+ years of experience.
• Hands-on experience building data pipelines using SQL, Python and ETL/ELT patterns.
• Knowledge of data integration, modeling, storage, and modern data platforms.
• Experience cleaning, transforming, and documenting data for analytics with data quality checks.
• Strong written and verbal English communication; ability to learn new methods.
• Ability to organize work, multitask, meet timelines, and collaborate with teams.
• Hands-on data engineering to create reusable, well-structured data assets for analytics and AI use cases.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop data pipelines and curated data assets for scientific or business use cases.
• Collect, normalize, model, and transform data from databases, apps, APIs, and external sources.
• Implement data quality checks and maintain documentation including lineage and metadata.
• Collaborate with scientists, data owners, and engineers to clarify requirements and progress.
• Monitor pipelines for performance and freshness; troubleshoot and escalate issues.
