Job summary

UNIVERSAL Technologies LLC, based in Brooklyn, NY, seeks an experienced Senior Data Analyst with ETL expertise for a hybrid IT role. You will map VSAM files into SQL, perform metadata profiling, and contribute to an enterprise Legacy Replacement program.

The position requires 5+ years in data mapping with mainframe and relational DBs, IBM DataStage experience, and strong SQL/SSRS skills. Starts Jan 1, 2027.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of data mapping in mixed mainframe and relational DB environments.
• Create data dictionaries with business terms and definitions.
• Convert and migrate VSAM data into relational and dimensional SQL databases.
• 3+ years developing ETL with IBM DataStage.
• Extract data from COBOL programs and business rules from legacy code.
• Experience with Pension Administration systems; NY pension environment preferred.
• Strong SQL knowledge including complex queries and stored procedures.
• SSRS report development and data quality/profiling tool familiarity.
• Experience with Data Warehouses/Data Marts and BI tooling.
• Proficiency with IBM Mainframe, Windows Server, SQL Server environments; COBOL/CICS/DB2 knowledge.
• Analytical, problem-solving and requirements gathering abilities.

Responsibilities

• Analyze and map field-level data from VSAM into relational and dimensional SQL structures.
• Support conversion, validation, and migration for Legacy Replacement initiatives.
• Profiling, cleansing, and documenting data quality rules with SMEs.
• Develop ETL processes and implement data quality validations and STTMs.
• Collaborate with IT partners to remediate data quality gaps and support ongoing improvements.
• Provide technical analysis for data integrity across data warehouses and marts.
• Create and maintain SQL/SRS reports to support business needs.

UNIVERSAL Technologies LLC is seeking an experienced Senior Data Analyst with ETL expertise for a hybrid role in Brooklyn NY to work with the Information Technology IT Division UNIVERSAL Technologies reserves the right to hire the candidates as an employee at no additional cost after a period of six 6 months The Senior Data Analyst will primarily be responsible for detailed field level analysis metadata analysis profiling and mapping of VSAM files into relationaldimensional SQL tables as well as conversionvalidation efforts as part of an enterprise wide Legacy Replacement program 3 days onsite in Brooklyn NY Expected to start Jan 1 2027

MANDATORY SKILLS EXPERIENCE

• Minimum of five 5 years of source to target data mapping experience within mixed Mainframe and relational database environmentsExperience creating data dictionary documentation including business terms valid values and definitionsExperience converting and migrating VSAM data into relational and dimensional SQL databasesMinimum of three 3 years of recent experience developing ETL applications using IBM DataStageExperience extracting field references and calculated data from COBOL programsExperience extracting business rules from existing legacy codeExperience with BMC Control M workload automation softwareExperience with GIT version control softwareMinimum of three 3 years of recent experience working with Pension Administration systemsPrior experience working within a pension system preferably a New York State or New York City pension environmentStrong SQL knowledge including complex queries and stored proceduresExperience developing complex SQL data validations based on Source to Target Mapping documents STTMs and target data modelsProficiency in SQL Server Reporting Services SSRS report developmentExperience with Data Quality and Data Profiling toolsExperience working with Data Warehouses and Data MartsProficiency working in IBM Mainframe Windows Server and SQL Server environmentsProficiency with mainframe applications and technologies including COBOL CICS and DB2Strong understanding of data structures and their relationship to ETL applicationsStrong analytical skills with the ability to receive and analyze requirements and propose appropriate solutions that align with established team methodologiesExcellent analytical problem solving troubleshooting and information gathering skills

• Provide technical expertise supporting Data Profiling Data Cleansing Data Conversion Data Migration and Data Validation efforts for an enterprise wide Legacy Replacement initiativePerform detailed field level analysis metadata analysis profiling and mapping of VSAM files into relational and dimensional SQL tablesParticipate in the identification inventory and classification of critical organizational dataWork with data Subject Matter Experts SMEs to document data quality rules and definitionsParticipate in the optimization and performance tuning of existing ETL and SQL processesExtract business rules from existing legacy code and create Source to Target mappingsTransform business rules and data quality rules into ETL andor SQL technical specificationsDevelop complex SQL data validations based on STTMs and target data modelsProvide technical and analytical support for data integrity and data quality initiativesCollaborate with SMEs and technical leads to identify and address data quality gapsWork with IT partners to remediate identified data quality gaps using manual and automated solutionsSupport processes designed to proactively detect correct and prevent invalid data valuesPerform data conversion and validation activities supporting migration from legacy environmentsSupport defect handling troubleshooting and problem resolutionContribute to ongoing process improvement initiatives related to enterprise data management
