Job summary

UNIVERSAL Technologies, LLC is seeking an experienced Senior Data Analyst with ETL expertise for a hybrid role in Brooklyn, NY. The role focuses on detailed data analysis, metadata profiling, and mapping VSAM files into relational SQL structures as part of a Legacy Replacement program.

You will work in the IT Division with substantial exposure to COBOL, CICS, and DB2 environments, and will collaborate with SMEs to ensure data quality.

Qualifications

• Five+ years of source-to-target data mapping in mixed Mainframe and relational databases.
• Experience creating data dictionary documentation with business terms and values.
• Converting and migrating VSAM data into relational and dimensional SQL databases.
• Three+ years of ETL development using IBM DataStage.
• Extracting field references and calculated data from COBOL programs.
• Extracting business rules from legacy code.
• Experience with BMC Control-M workload automation.
• Experience with Git version control.
• Three+ years with Pension Administration systems.
• Experience in NY State or NYC pension environments.
• Strong SQL knowledge with complex queries and stored procedures.
• Developing SQL data validations from STTMs and target data models.
• Proficiency in SSRS report development.
• Experience with Data Quality and Data Profiling tools.
• Experience with Data Warehouses and Data Marts.
• Proficiency in IBM Mainframe, Windows Server, and SQL Server environments.
• Knowledge of COBOL, CICS, and DB2 on mainframe.
• Strong understanding of data structures and their ETL relationships.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; effective requirements analysis.
• Excellent information gathering abilities.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support for Data Profiling, Data Cleansing, Data Migration, and Validation in enterprise Legacy Replacement.
• Perform detailed field-level analysis, metadata analysis, profiling, and mapping of VSAM to SQL tables.
• Identify, inventory, and classify critical data assets.
• Collaborate with SMEs to document data quality rules and definitions.
• Support optimization and performance tuning of ETL and SQL processes.
• Transform legacy business rules into ETL/SQL specs.
• Develop complex SQL data validations based on STTMs and target models.
• Provide data integrity and quality support across initiatives.
• Work with IT partners to remediate data quality gaps using manual and automated methods.
• Assist in data conversion and validation for migrations from legacy environments.
• Support defect handling, troubleshooting, and issue resolution.
• Contribute to ongoing enterprise data management process improvements.
