About the job: Senior Data Analyst, Finance and Credit (Remote)

The Data Analytics team plays a critical role in providing analytical support across Paychex's organization to enable data-driven decision making. We leverage our analytical and technical skills to assist our partners with various services, including understanding underwriting models, analyzing loan performance trends, exploring market size opportunities, creating financial models, developing business intelligence pipelines for self-service reporting, and automating work processes.

As the Senior Data Analyst - Finance and Credit at Paychex, you will lead fair valuation and financial automation initiatives by building repeatable, scalable, and auditable analytics and data pipelines.

Position Location: San Mateo

Time Zone Requirements: West Coast time zones.

Travel Requirements: Regular on-site collaboration sessions 4-5 days per month at the San Mateo office, with travel expenses covered by Paychex.

How you'll make an impact:

1. Own end-to-end initiatives supporting modeling, automation, and analytics in financial dashboards, fair value accounting, and forecasting, leading to more accurate and scalable financial close cycles and insights.
2. Drive methodology enhancements, data model development, and recommend solutions for new data and credit product changes, influencing product roadmaps and working with engineering teams for quick fixes.
3. Partner with Accounting, Audit, Product, and Engineering teams to support monthly financial reporting and ensure efficient data reporting processes.
4. Create reports and dashboards using BI tools like Looker; monitor trends and report key insights daily.
5. Collaborate with big data platforms (AWS, Redshift, BDT), data providers, and engineering teams to explore APIs, ingest new datasets, and evaluate business impacts.

What we're looking for:

• Minimum requirements:

BS/MS in Business Analytics, Financial Engineering, Finance, Economics, Engineering, or a similar quantitative field.

• 3+ years of experience in SQL querying and BI/reporting with large, complex datasets (Looker, Tableau, Power BI).
• 2+ years in financial analytics or quantitative modeling to support business decisions.
• Experience translating business requirements into Data Warehousing and ETL processes.

Preferred qualifications:

• 5+ years in data analytics tools like Python or R, and using Excel/Google Sheets.
• Strong communication skills for client-facing and executive data presentations.
• Experience in project management, documentation, using Jira and Confluence.
• Experience in cash flow valuation modeling of consumer lending products or asset-backed securities.
• Knowledge of statistical methods and machine learning algorithms.
• Previous experience in consumer marketplace lending, focusing on capital markets, finance, or product development.
