The Center for Health Equity & Community Wellness (CHECW) aims to eliminate racial and other inequities that lead to premature mortality. It works to increase visibility of the harm caused by racist, unjust policies and pushes for redress in NYC communities. CHECW addresses social determinants of health through partnerships with community, faith-based, and healthcare organizations. Its focus includes environmental and commercial determinants, tackling upstream and downstream factors to improve health and well-being. CHECW comprises several bureaus, including the Bureau of Bronx Neighborhood Health, Brooklyn Neighborhood Health, Harlem Neighborhood Health, among others, and sits under the Agency's Chief Medical Officer.
The Bureau of Equitable Health Systems (BEHS) is part of the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, dedicated to improving healthcare equity through policy, evidence, and expertise. BEHS seeks to hire two experienced Senior Data Analysts to help shape its Healthcare Accountability initiatives, develop data strategies, and create analyses and tools for internal and public use.
