The Bureau of Equitable Health Systems at the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene is hiring two Senior Data Analysts to lead data strategy and analysis efforts. This role involves managing databases, ensuring data quality, and collaborating with policy teams to improve healthcare equity in NYC. Ideal candidates will possess advanced degrees and significant experience in data analysis within healthcare settings.
The Center for Health Equity & Community Wellness (CHECW) aims to eliminate racial and other inequities that lead to premature mortality. With a strong foundation in history and structural analysis, CHECW works to increase awareness of the harm caused by racist and unjust policies, advocating for redress in NYC communities. CHECW collaborates with community, faith-based, and healthcare organizations to address social determinants of health, including environmental and commercial factors, focusing on both upstream and downstream influences to enhance health and well-being.
CHECW consists of various bureaus, including Bronx, Brooklyn, Harlem Neighborhood Health, Chronic Disease Prevention, Health Equity Capacity Building, Equitable Health Systems, and Finance, Administration, and Services. The Deputy Commissioner also serves as the Agency's Chief Equity Officer, overseeing initiatives like Race to Justice, aimed at internal reform to address racial health disparities. CHECW operates under the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DOHMH).
The Bureau of Equitable Health Systems (BEHS), part of DOHMH, seeks to improve healthcare equity through policy, evidence, and practical expertise. It engages healthcare providers to implement strategies, supports planning and technical assistance, advances policies to close racial health gaps, and connects consumers to social supports. Within BEHS, the Office of Healthcare Systems Strategy and Accountability (OHSSA) promotes innovative initiatives to improve healthcare delivery and strategy in NYC. BEHS is hiring two (2) Senior Data Analysts to shape OHSSA's Healthcare Accountability portfolio, leading data strategy and analysis efforts.
