Job summary

GZA GeoEnvironmental, Inc. seeks Civil Engineers with 5+ years of experience to join the Dam and Levee Safety Group in Clarksville, TN. You will work under a Senior Dams/Geotechnical engineer and collaborate with project managers and senior staff across offices.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Civil Engineering is required.
• M.S. in Civil Engineering with geotechnical/structural focus preferred.
• Professional Engineer license required with ability to obtain TN/nearby state PE.
• Ideal candidate has 4+ years in dam/levee safety engineering and related activities.
• GeoStudio experience preferred; strong communication and mentoring skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform/manage dam and levee safety inspections.
• Coordinate and supervise fieldwork including subsurface explorations, instrumentation, surveys, and underwater inspections.
• Oversee resident engineering/construction monitoring for rehab and removal projects.
• Supervise data collection and interpretation for dam/levee projects and related analyses.
• Conduct seepage, slope stability, and stability analyses for embankment dams and levees.
• Coordinate hydrologic/hydraulic analyses for spillway capacity and dam-break scenarios.
• Perform FERC Part 12 Dam inspections and update DSSMPs/DSSMRs/STIDs.
• Participate in Potential Failure Mode Analysis sessions.
• Write inspection/engineering reports and assist in permit applications.
• Design dam rehab projects and develop construction plans and specifications.
• Estimate costs, prepare schedules, and manage budgets.
• Oversee construction administration and respond to submittals/RFIs.
• Communicate effectively with team, clients, and contractors; mentor staff.
• Prepare proposals and scopes of work; manage project budgets.
• Interact with principals, clients, and regulatory agencies; coordinate project schedules.
• Travel occasionally to project sites; ensure transportation to/from sites.
