Job summary

Schnabel Engineering, Inc. — Seattle office is seeking a Senior Dam Engineer with deep geotechnical expertise to lead dam projects across the region. You will oversee engineering analyses, design, and construction of embankment and concrete dams, spillways, and related structures.

Ideal candidates bring 10+ years in civil/ geotechnical engineering, a PE license, and strong leadership and communication skills. Will travel as needed and mentor junior engineers within a multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from ABET-accredited program.
• 10+ years of civil engineering experience with emphasis in dam design or dam safety.
• Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) or Engineering Geologist with reciprocity eligibility.
• Experience with dam safety design methodologies and regulations.
• Experience with design drawings and technical specifications.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work independently or in a team.

Responsibilities

• Provide engineering expertise, technical oversight and management of dam projects (inspection, evaluation, design, construction).
• Develop proposals and qualification statements for new work.
• Prepare and review design calculations, reports, drawings, and specs.
• Manage client relationships and project budgets; handle invoicing and resource planning.
• Coordinate with Seattle office and Schnabel teams; balance workload.
