Job summary
Kroger is seeking a Dairy Science leader to provide technical direction for product development and quality support across Kroger Dairy Business Unit. Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in food science or related field
- 5+ years of experience in DAIRY product development
- Strong critical thinking skills
- Strong attention to detail with high accuracy
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Experience with quality assurance and regulatory compliance
- 6+ years in quality assurance or product development
- Plant experience in QA or production
- Advanced knowledge in dairy regulations or related areas
Responsibilities
- Lead technical aspects of DAIRY product development, product approval, and quality improvement processes
- Partner to select raw material, finished product, and packaging suppliers for quality and cost in Dairy New Product Development
- Knowledge of standard Dairy Processing for key Dairy Categories (fluid milk, yogurt, cheese, etc.)
- Work with Corporate Brands to approve procured products and Kroger labeled products (KLP)
- Maintain proficiency in labeling to ensure packaging meets legal requirements
- Monitor quality of procured products and coordinate recalls if necessary
- Lead labs and sensory panels with CFT
- Plan and supervise cuttings, audits, and lab development trials
- Prepare materials, formulas, and product specifications
- Analyze customer comments and resolve issues with plants and suppliers
- Lead responses to customer comment trends and quality opportunities
- Partner with Corporate Brands and Retail to resolve product quality issues
- Travel to plants and vendors for essential duties
- Follow programs to produce safe, quality foods meeting requirements
- Support SQF 2000 systems development and maintenance
- Supervise and coach direct reports and conduct performance reviews
- Comply with Kroger Manufacturing Food Safety and Quality Principles
