Caterpillar Inc. in Lafayette, IN is seeking a Cylinder Pack Design Engineer to own the design, development, and lifecycle management of cylinder pack components for large power engines.

You will lead technical decisions, collaborate with global teams, suppliers, and manufacturing to deliver durable, cost-effective solutions. This role emphasizes design for manufacturing, validation, and rigorous analysis, with responsibility for meeting performance, durability, and quality objectives across

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in an accredited Engineering, Computer Science, or Materials Science curriculum.
• Experience with engine testing, calibration, simulation, or controls development.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical capabilities.
• Ability to work across cross-functional teams.
• Familiarity with design for manufacturing and product development processes.

Responsibilities

• Be the technical owner for PRL cylinder pack components and lifecycle management.
• Collaborate with suppliers on concurrent design to meet objectives.
• Work with engine platform teams on NPI, NTI, CPI, and NSI projects.
• Direct and/or conduct analytical simulation work, providing boundary conditions, load inputs, and evaluation of results.
• Apply product development skills including requirements management and failure investigation.
• Lead maintenance activities and cost reduction projects.
• Communicate results to customers, suppliers, and teams.
• Function as a critical member of cross-functional project teams.
• Gather input from a broad team to plan and manage the job.
