Job summary

Avint, LLC is seeking a Cybersecurity SME to act as a senior advisor on RMF and DoD cybersecurity within a government program. The role emphasizes maintaining secure posture, guiding policy development, and leading complex security tasks.

Ideal candidates have DoD experience, strong communication skills, and the ability to mentor staff while delivering high-quality, compliant security artifacts and leadership across cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in a related field.
• DoD 8570 compliant IAM level III certification.
• 15 years of experience, with at least 5 in the DoD.
• Expert knowledge of RMF and CSF standards and publications.
• Strong communication and written skills; able to present complex ideas clearly.
• Proven ability to plan projects, manage resources, and schedule work.
• Demonstrated ability to build trusted client relationships.

Responsibilities

• Maintain security posture of systems in their area of responsibility.
• Assist in developing and streamlining the cybersecurity program and policies.
• Support RMF implementation to ensure policy compliance.
• Assist A&A activities and ensure quality artifacts under DoD guidance.
• Develop common controls program and provide evidence of inheritability.
• Maintain and report system security status per DoD guidance.
• Provide direction to junior cybersecurity staff and oversee policy adherence.
• Coordinate with security manager to address security issues.
• Identify IOs and stewards for DoD information handling and access governance.
• Maintain repository for cybersecurity documentation.
• Monitor compliance with cybersecurity policy and report results.
• Coordinate inspections, tests, and reviews with affected parties.
• Ensure IS security measures and incident reporting procedures are followed.
• Prepare system security information for authorization records (eMASS, etc.).
• Author/review/certify RMF-related plans and security management documents.
