Job summary

Base-2 Solutions in Reston, VA seeks a Cyber Security Engineer to design, implement, and maintain security controls protecting critical assets. You will work on firewalls, IDS/IPS, endpoint protection, and encryption while aligning to DoD-style standards.

The ideal candidate has extensive experience with continuous monitoring, log analysis (Splunk), and incident response, plus CISSP or equivalent certification. This on-site role requires U.S. citizenship and TS/SCI clearance with CI polygraph.

Qualifications

• Active Top Secret/SCI with CI Polygraph.
• 7+ years of cybersecurity engineering experience.
• Experience with continuous monitoring and auditing for security controls.
• Strong Splunk log collection and analysis skills.
• Experience with government regulatory frameworks (NIST SP 800-53, RMF, ICD 503, FISMA, FedRAMP).
• Experience with cloud, container, and DevSecOps in IL5+ environments.
• CISSP or equivalent certification.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and manage security solutions, including firewalls, IDS/IPS, endpoint protection, and encryption.
• Conduct regular security assessments to identify vulnerabilities in systems, networks, and apps.
• Develop and implement incident response plans to address security incidents and breaches.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enforce security policies, standards, and procedures.
• Monitor network traffic, system logs, and security alerts to detect incidents.
• Analyze and investigate anomalies and security breaches to mitigate risks.
• Work with IT, development, and compliance to integrate security into the SDLC.
• Maintain documentation of security processes, configurations, and procedures.
• Prepare detailed reports on security findings and actions taken.
