Job summary

The State of Florida seeks a Cybersecurity Engineer III to support enterprise security tooling, detections, and telemetry pipelines that enable SOC detection, analysis, and incident response. This role emphasizes configuring SIEM, SOAR, EDR, and data platforms while ensuring data quality for detections.

You will develop, tune, and validate detections, monitor tool performance, and assist incident response with telemetry requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in cybersecurity, CS, IS, engineering or related field; equivalent experience considered.
• 3+ years in cybersecurity engineering, security operations, or related technical roles.
• Hands-on experience configuring or supporting SIEM, EDR, SOAR, or log/data platforms.
• Experience with security telemetry, logs, or data pipelines for monitoring and detection.
• Experience developing or tuning detection rules or alerting logic in a SOC.
• Familiarity with incident response processes and change/configuration management.
• Strong written and verbal communication; CISSP/CCSP or cloud security certs preferred.

Responsibilities

• Configure, maintain, and support enterprise security tools including SIEM, SOAR, EDR, and related telemetry systems.
• Support ingestion, parsing, normalization, and retention of security telemetry for detection and investigation.
• Monitor performance and availability of security tooling; identify issues impacting SOC operations.
• Develop, implement, and maintain SIEM detections using structured logic and standards.
• Tune detection rules to reduce false positives and maintain operational effectiveness.
• Translate detection requirements into platform-specific implementations and validate telemetry pipelines.
• Provide tooling and telemetry expertise during incident response activities.
• Document configurations, runbooks, and standard operating procedures; support changes.
• Collaborate with IT, data, and cybersecurity teams to support enterprise initiatives.
