Job summary

9th Way Insignia is seeking a Senior Cybersecurity Engineer to support the VA COSE program. You will engineer and assess security capabilities across identity, devices, networks, applications, data, and cloud platforms, translating NIST, RMF, FISMA, and FedRAMP requirements into implementable controls.

The role requires 7+ years in cybersecurity engineering or security architecture, plus experience with authorization-to-operate activities and producing clear technical documentation for

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent technical experience.
• 7+ years in cybersecurity engineering, security architecture, or security assessment.
• Experience with RMF, NIST SP 800-53, FISMA, FedRAMP, and authorization-to-operate.
• Experience applying Zero Trust principles and assessing security controls in cloud, hybrid, or on-prem.
• Ability to produce clear technical documentation and brief stakeholders on security risks and recommendations.

Responsibilities

• Engineer and assess security capabilities across identity, devices, networks, applications, data, and cloud.
• Translate NIST, FISMA, RMF, FedRAMP, and agency security requirements into controls.
• Support authorization activities by developing system security documentation, control evidence, and remediation plans.
• Analyze vulnerabilities, control gaps, and security findings; develop technical recommendations and track resolution.
• Advise architects, engineers, system owners, and leadership on security design and risk treatment.
