Job summary

BNSF is hiring a Sr./Staff Cybersecurity Engineer for a fully remote US-based role. The position focuses on designing and implementing security controls across networks, data, and applications, with opportunities to influence policy, risk, and incident response.

Travel up to 20% to Fort Worth may be required for in-person meetings. Ideal candidates have 6+ years in cybersecurity engineering, a BS/CS/Cybersecurity degree, and hands-on experience with security tooling and CI/CD security in cloud

Qualifications

• Authorized to work in the US
• Minimum 6 years of cybersecurity engineering experience
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in CS, cybersecurity, or related field
• Ability to work now and in the future without sponsorship (H-1B/STEM OPT/TN)

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain security controls across network, infrastructure, data, and apps
• Assist in creation of security policies and standards
• Perform risk assessments and contribute to data protection strategies
• Assist in penetration testing and vulnerability assessments
• Develop and maintain tooling for threat detection, response, and reporting
• Collaborate with DevOps and IT to embed security in CI/CD and cloud
• Monitor and respond to security incidents with SOC/IR teams
• Support compliance (NIST, SOX) through enforcement and documentation
• Participate in red/blue team exercises and threat modeling
• Develop playbooks and runbooks for security operations
