Job summary

BNSF is seeking a Sr/Staff Cybersecurity Engineer for a remote role in the United States. The position requires at least six years of cybersecurity engineering experience, a strong grasp of security controls, threat modeling, and incident response.

You will design, implement, and maintain defenses across networks and applications while collaborating with DevOps and IT teams. The role offers a competitive base salary ranging from $165,000 to $300,000, with bonus eligibility and comprehensive

Qualifications

• Authorized to work in the US.
• Minimum 6 years of cybersecurity engineering or related roles.
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in CS, cybersecurity, or related field.
• Willing to be sponsored (H-1B/TN/STEM OPT) if applicable.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain security controls across network, infrastructure, data, and applications.
• Assist in creating security policies and standards.
• Perform risk assessments and data protection strategies.
• Assist in penetration testing and vulnerability assessments.
• Develop tooling for threat detection, response, and reporting.
• Collaborate with DevOps/IT to embed security in CI/CD and cloud.
• Monitor and respond to security incidents with SOC/IR.
• Support compliance (NIST, SOX) through enforcement and documentation.
• Participate in red/blue team exercises and threat modeling.
• Evaluate emerging threats and recommend proactive measures.
• Contribute to playbooks and runbooks for security operations.
