Job summary

Vernovis in Columbus, OH is hiring a Senior Cybersecurity Engineer to strengthen security across cloud, applications, endpoints, and identity. You will administer WAFs, manage cloud controls, end­point protection, and SIEM/SOAR, leading incident response efforts.

The role requires hands-on Cloudflare, CrowdStrike, Zscaler, and PCI/GDPR familiarity, with focus on threat hunting and secure DevSecOps practices.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience administering a web application firewall (Cloudflare) and understanding HTTP/HTTPS, DNS, TLS, APIs, OWASP risks, and DDoS.
• Experience implementing security controls in GCP or Azure across identity, networking, storage, and logging.
• Experience with EDR/XDR, SIEM/SOAR, vulnerability management, penetration testing, threat hunting, and incident response.
• Working knowledge of Linux and Windows administration, networking, firewalls, zero trust, hybrid infrastructure, and PCI DSS/GDPR.

Responsibilities

• Administer and improve WAF platforms, including rules, rate limiting, and bot protections.
• Implement and maintain security controls across cloud platforms (GCP/Azure).
• Manage endpoint security and anti-ransomware protections (EDR/XDR).
• Operate SIEM/SOAR platforms, build alerts, detections, dashboards, and automation.
• Lead security incident investigations, containment, remediation, and root-cause analysis.
• Conduct vulnerability management, automated testing, and attack path analysis.
• Administer zero trust and network security technologies (Zscaler, firewalls, VPN).
• Support PCI DSS, GDPR, security awareness, and DevSecOps initiatives.
