Job summary

City of Virginia Beach is seeking a cybersecurity engineer to manage an enterprise program. The role focuses on vulnerability management, incident response, and risk-based analysis, with cloud security practices across AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud.

You will mentor junior staff and participate in DevSecOps, policy reviews, and third-party audits, while adapting to a hybrid in-office schedule in Virginia/NC areas.

Qualifications

• Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity/IT or related field and six years of IT experience; or equivalent to ten years.
• Experience leading an enterprise cybersecurity team and performing audits.
• Ability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.
• May require a current and valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Lead an enterprise class cybersecurity team.
• Perform compliance activities and audits (policy/process reviews, third-party audits).
• Conduct risk and threat analysis for systems, applications and third parties.
• Lead cybersecurity operations and incident response.
• Participate in DevSecOps processes and threat modeling.
• Familiar with NIST Cybersecurity Frameworks and ISO 27001.
• Mentor junior cybersecurity team members.
• Work in a hybrid/onsite schedule in Virginia/NC.
